Numerical and experimental simulation of flows

The analysis of fluid flows is very important for the evaluation, design and optimization of processes.

Our team carries out research and consultancy projects for the experimental and numerical evaluation of these flows. We have extensive experience in the design, manufacture and operation of experimental plants for the visualization of flows involving one or more fluids, and for the measurement of parameters of interest such as pressure and flow. At the same time, we are able to study flows using numerical simulation, both developing homemade codes and using commercial or open programs. Numerical methods are used to solve the governing equations, and allow obtaining the distribution of the variables of interest over time and position. In this way, we can obtain distributions of velocity, pressure and temperature, among others. From these results, other quantities of interest can be evaluated, such as head loss, flow and drag coefficient.

At the end of the study, a report will be made available containing the main results of interest in the form of figures, graphs and tables, with analysis and interpretation.

Infrastructure: Flow and density meters; pressure transducers; hydrometer; high-resolution still cameras; miscellaneous pumps; 3d printer; milling machine; industrial drill; lathe; microcomputer network; commercial programs (Fluent, Ansys; Matlab; SolidWorks).
