About the Group

The Rheology Group (GReo) is part of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at PUC-Rio and was founded in 1995 to meet the needs of scientific research in the field of rheology with a view to industrial applications. Its main objectives are:

It is made up of a highly qualified technical team, including PhD professors, researchers, engineers, technicians, and scientific initiation, master's and doctoral students.

GReo's activities include the development of research projects addressing important scientific and technological challenges, which mainly involve flows, modeling and characterization of non-Newtonian fluids such as polymeric liquids (fused polymers, polymeric solutions), suspensions (slurries, slurries, cements ), emulsions (water/oil, mayonnaise) and foams.

These research projects aim to contribute to the advancement of knowledge necessary to remove technological barriers that prevent the improvement of industrial processes.

GReo has laboratories equipped with modern rheometers and various other state-of-the-art equipment. Our partners++ are Petrobras, Shell, Equinor, Vale and many others, for whom we provide short-term services (analyses of industrial problems, rheological characterizations, property measurements, calibrations) and long-term services (research projects).
